Writing from somewhere else

by Jan on March 17, 2010

Just before you start reading
Please understand
This is not art.
It’s not literature.

I don’t read much poetry;
Not educated in the field at all.

I really know jack about iambic pentameter and the like.

But I do know that writing from somewhere else
From a part of me that is slowly coming back to life after being smothered in infancy
Somewhere I can’t quite grab, somewhere adjacent perhaps,
Peripheral certainly
For now

Somewhere that gets occasional flashes of illumination
Writing from that place produces something altering
Something that moves

Me

What’s that called, then?
