Hi Jan.
I agree completely. Folk put pressure on themselves to be smiley when they are feeling down. It just makes it harder to navigate through the feelings. Too many conflicting emotions. This would make a nice greeting card...from one friend to another... with one of your lovely photographs.

Your 'thank you' means a lot, Joanna. Perhaps like me you've struggled with the whole 'keep positive at all times' dominant thinking. 'Getting real' feels like the way forward for me, and your words of thanks reinforce that. So, thank you (hugely)!
Likewise, Mica, I see that my words struck a chord with you. Bless you for commenting in your wonderful forthright way. Love it!
Btw, I have been very inspired by Barbara Ehrenreich's book Smile or Die. Well worth a read.

Oh my goodness, how true!
It's not right, not healthy to push feelings down and smother them just because that's what the big personal growth and attraction gurus say (actually I remember reading something by Wayne Dyer about how important it is to acknowledge our true feelings, even when that might mean hiding under the covers for a while. If it's good enough for Wayne!)
Pretending everything is great, even fine is so so dangerous.
Lets be truthful, feel it for real then we can move through it and on with some real honesty.
